A wide range of E-mount lenses, including the G Master series with stunning resolution and bokeh, can be mounted on the FR7 thanks to Sony’s E-mount. Users have full creative control with a choice of focal lengths ranging from 12mm to 1200mm.
Included is S-Cinetone, which provides the subtle colors and beautiful highlights necessary for healthy-looking skin tones, as well as additional scene presets. Choose between ISO 800 and ISO 12800 to adjust the base sensitivity in Cine EI mode according to lighting conditions and reduce noise while maintaining a consistent look. Because it supports the original Sony S-Log3 gamma, wide S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut3 . Cinematic color spaces, this mode is excellent for post production. It is possible to film up to 4K 120p in slow motion.
Pan, tilt, zoom, focus, record, playback and all camera settings can be easily managed from a tablet or computer web browser using a new dedicated online app. Remote viewing of FR7 footage is possible for multiple users at the same time. Additionally, multi-camera monitoring is enabled, allowing remote monitoring of multiple cameras from one device. For multi-camera productions, it is also compatible with the Sony RM-IP500 remote controller, increasing creative potential while reducing the demand for dedicated people in production studios and other shooting environments.
Up to 100 PTZ cameras can be remotely managed by a single RM-IP500 unit, which also offers useful joystick pan, tilt and zoom functions. From 0.02 degrees per second to 60 degrees per second, pan and tilt speeds can be smoothly adjusted to perform a variety of stable and smooth camera movements. The tilt angle range is between -30° and +195° and the roll angle range is between -170° and +170°.
Up to 100 camera position presets can be loaded using the integrated web app and the optional RM-IP500 remote control. After a firmware upgrade, the Sony ILME-FR7 will also support the S700 over Ethernet protocol, allowing this product to be controlled from Sony’s Master Setup Unit (MSU) and Remote Control Panel (RCP).

Even when people are looking at subjects from steep angles, the built-in BIONZ XR engine realizes the detection power to perfectly focus the eyes, allowing the operator to focus on composing the largest photo. When using the FR7 web app, Touch Focus can be used to initiate real-time tracking focus on a selected target, along with real-time eye AF if an eye is detected.
An electronic variable ND filter, which is built-in, enables seamless modification of the ND. By automatically adjusting the ND filter to changing light, the Auto ND function ensures stable exposure. In addition, a remote control is optional, which allows you to control the exposure outside the camera.
The FR7 also has dual media slots that handle CFexpress Type A and SDXC memory cards. With its high-speed writing capabilities that guarantee stable data recording at high volumes and frame rates, CFexpress Type A cards are particularly suitable for high-bitrate 4K video production. Simultaneous recording, relay recording, interval recording and proxy recording are also supported. A suitable external recorder can receive a 16-bit RAW stream from the SDI output (sold separately).
There are video output ports for HDMI Type A and 12G-SDI, as well as an optical output for lengthy transmission. The signal from an external microphone or audio device will be received via the AUDIO IN connector (XLR type 5-pin). One connector is used by AUDIO CH-1 and CH-2.
