
Nikon Z9 full-frame mirrorless camera launched in India
Nikon India Private Ltd has now lifted the curtains on its most premium full-frame mirrorless camera. The Nikon Z9 is the latest addition to the company’s Z range in the Indian market. Nikon’s new mirrorless camera comes with flagship features such as a 45.7 effective megapixel layered CMOS sensor that is said to achieve 12x faster still image reading, and also offers high quality in-camera video recording. Starting with the price, the full-frame mirrorless Nikon Z9 has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 4,75,995 (body only). In terms of availability, the camera will reportedly be available for purchase through Nikon authorized stores in the country from November.

Considering the Nikon Z9 full-frame mirrorless camera specifications, this device is the first to come with a 4-axis vertical and horizontal tilting monitor and an integrated vertical grip, allowing users to comfortably capture the best moments even in the harshest conditions. The monitor is 3.2 in size and the TFT LCD screen provides a viewing angle of 70 degrees along with 11 levels of manual brightness control. It also offers 100 percent color balance and image coverage.
In addition, the Nikon Z9 has a stacked CMOS sensor with a resolution of 45.7 effective megapixels and dual-stream technology. It can achieve 12 times faster still image reading while separately processing displayed images for EVF/monitor and still image data for recording. There’s a high-performance EXPEED 7 image processor, which is said to provide 10x faster processing speed, allowing live view data from the EVF/monitor and recorded still image data to be processed separately but simultaneously. The electronic viewfinder has a newly equipped Quad-VGA panel, which is compatible to adjust the brightness of the viewfinder up to 3000 cd/m in response to different lighting conditions. Nikon’s first four-axis vertically and horizontally tiltable image monitor provides excellent flexibility, especially when shooting from high or low angles.

In addition, the full-frame mirrorless Nikon Z9 offers high quality in-camera video recording [email protected] and 4K/30p/60p/120p. It claims to be recording [email protected] videos of approximately 125 minutes. Users can also choose to record in 4K with a wide range of frame sizes/frame rates from 24p to 120p available in multiple formats, even when recording in slow motion.

The full-frame mirrorless camera comes with CFexpress Type B-compatibility in both of its slots, for higher write speeds when it comes to recording 8K video and shooting a large number of images continuously, even with JPEG and RAW files.
In addition, the Z9 can maintain focus thanks to an expanded video AF speed range and a new AF setting. According to the company, when the subject is not detected, the AF turns off, and foreground focus and background blur are maintained even after the subject moves out of frame. Sound quality has also been improved with in-line PCM recording from 16-bit to 24-bit, the ability to turn off the plug-in power of the microphone jack and improved compatibility with professional high-quality microphones.
There is no mechanical shutter on the Nikon Z9; this deliberate omission of a mechanical shutter in the Z 9 allows users to capture images without distortion along with the fastest scanning speed. The in-camera VR uses a safety lock to prevent the risk of damage to the image sensor.
The Z 9 also supports High-Efficiency RAW, which provides image quality equivalent to conventional uncompressed RAW, but with a file size smaller than approximately 1/3 the file size. Synchro VR enhances handheld shooting with up to 6.0 feet of compensation. It ensures that the images are stable. The device comes with Wi-Fi and enables smart and stable image transfers via USB cable and NX MobileAir to a smart device and their immediate upload to a selected FTP server. There is NX Tether for tethered photography and support for GPS and GNSS technology.
