Instagram has been updated with a new silent mode
To encourage setting boundaries with friends and followers and help focus, Meta introduced a silent mode on Instagram. The feature is designed specifically for teenage users. Once this feature is enabled, users won’t receive any notifications, but it will send an automatic reply whenever someone sends a direct message (DM). In addition, the activity status of the profile will also change to let people know about it.
Meta announced the new Instagram features via its blog post. It read: “Today we’re launching Silent Mode on Instagram to help people focus and encourage them to set boundaries with their friends and followers. Once enabled, you won’t receive any notifications, your profile activity status will change to let others know, and we’ll automatically send you an auto-reply when someone DMs you.”

Additionally, if you choose Uninteresting post you saw in Explore, it will try to prevent similar content from appearing in other places where it provides recommendations like reels, Search, and other places in the future.
Additionally, while you can currently block DMs and comments that contain certain expressions, Instagram is now expanding this option to include any featured posts you might see on the platform. Once you add a word or list of words, emojis, or hashtags you want to avoid, it will stop recommending content with phrases like “fitness” or “recipes” in the title or hashtag.
